I found myself standing at the top of a cliff face. I looked down into the raging ocean's waves pounding at the rocks. The wind was rough and cold. I stared out into the horizon and saw an endless plain of freedom. I took one step forward. Something was urging me to jump; to fly out over the horizon. It felt as though my human side had left me and because of that I had no fear about jumping. I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, growling instinctively as I did. I wanted to jump. No, I needed to jump.

I took the last step forward and let gravity do it's work as I fell down the cliff towards the water below. My eyes were closed as I embraced the draconic side of me and felt the rushing air going past my scales. In a split second I noticed that I was completely naked. I also felt that my entire body was now covered in scales and then I also noticed how sharp all my senses were now. I could smell the salt coming from the water clearly and I could also smell even the dust from the cliff that was rushing past me. I could hear distant splashes coming from the open water which I assumed where fish swimming around in its depths. My reaction time and the time it took for me to process information in my head had also improved significantly, as shown by the fact that I could figure out I was a full dragon now and I could process all the information coming from my improved senses in a couple of seconds. Wait a second. A full dragon? I grit my teeth together in contentment. When I moved my jaw around I felt that me face had also stretched into a snout. My grin grew larger. I was a dragon, and I loved it.

I snapped opened my eyes just as I was about to hit the water and pulled myself up away from it. I had picked up a lot of speed from my free fall and used it to race along the surface of the water as I pulled myself horizontally. The huge waves that spread along the ocean's surface sprinted past me as I glided over them. The extremely high velocity I was going created an adrenaline rush in me and I suddenly wanted to push myself even further. I skimmed along the water with my claws as water sprayed into my face.

I began to lose speed which disappointed me greatly. I looked forward across the water and saw no land, just ocean. I decided to turn back to land. I banked myself to the left which turned me back towards land. I saw the cliff I had jumped off and was amazed by how high it was. It didn't seem that high when I was standing on top of it. I saw a beach around the corner of the cliff and flew towards there.

When I landed I noticed that, without thinking, I landed on four legs. I didn't mind though, it felt far to natural for me to worry. I felt the sand rubbing against my scales and it felt good. I took one step forward in my new stance and my body flowed normally with it. My tail provided balanced which stopped me from tipping over to one side.

Before I could admire my new self any more I saw a movement in the corner of my eye and turned my head to where it came from. It was all the way at the other side of the beach but, due to my telescopic draconic vision, I saw it as clear as it would if it was right next to me. It was a wild dog. A wolf to be more accurate. Suddenly my stomach began to rumble and I saw the grey wolf with a new thought in my mind. I was hungry and needed food. The wolf can satisfy that, I thought as I began to growl deeply when my hunger for fresh meat grew larger. The wolf hadn't noticed me yet but did when I took off and started flying towards it and it ran away into the forest behind the beach in fear. I didn't blame it for being scared, because it had a very good reason to be.

Even though the wolf had bolted in between brushes of trees, I never lost sight of it. Must suck to be him right now; he's usually the predator but now he's the prey. He tried hopelessly to escape my bloodthirsty eyes but never succeeded. The trees began to be a bit less thick and that's when I decided to make my move. I slowly descended to the ground, towards the fleeing wolf. I dodged the trees that stood in between me and my food.

Quickly and without hesitation I pinned the wolf down with my razor sharp claws and sunk my jagged draconic teeth into its torso. Blood poured out of the wound and into my mouth. As the warm red fluid landed on my tongue I fell into a primal rage. I had felt nothing like this before. It was like nothing could stop me. I took a large bite into the twitching corpse and ripped out a huge chunk of flesh and swallowed it whole. The satisfaction I gained from this overcame my senses. I needed more. I leaned my blood stained head back and bellowed out an earth shattering roar.

I woke up covered in sweat in my bed. It was all a dream, like last time. Also, like last time, it felt so real; so vivid. My heart rate was going off like I had just ran a marathon or something. I needed to calm down quickly. I grabbed a water bottle from out of my bag and drank it all down nervously. My breathing was still very fast but I soon felt myself calming down.

When I was able to think properly again I closed my eyes, took a deep breath and tried to find a reason behind the dream. I figured that the dream occurred because I'm becoming more like a dragon each day. I began to fear myself. Is that what's going to happen when the transformation is complete? Will I just become a savage beast and lose all signs of humanity? Over the past few days I have felt myself change mentally. Whenever my instincts began to take over I always found myself doing something I would never usually do. The worst part is what worried me. It felt good and I found myself accepting it whenever it happened. No! I screamed mentally while looking down at my claws with disdain. I don't want to lose my mind to this draconic side of me! I won't allow it!

I snapped out of my panicked state and noticed that it was now Saturday morning. I sighed and got out of bed. I need something to occupy myself with, I thought as I left my room and went into the kitchen. It was the weekend so my whole family was at the house, except for my Dad. He must be working today. Mom was sitting at the dining table eating breakfast. I figured that Will was probably still in his room sleeping. Mom noticed me walk in and greeted me, "Good morning sleepy dragon."

I groaned. Great, I thought as I went to the pantry, now she's using nicknames to describe me. Although the nickname was technically correct I didn't like it when she used it. I ignored her and grabbed a couple of slices of bread and put them in the toaster. She noticed my hostility towards her and she asked, "what's wrong?"

I didn't want to speak. I wasn't in the mood for any social interaction. I just wanted to eat breakfast then spend the rest of the day isolated in my room. "Nothing," I replied bitterly and quietly.

"I know something is wrong, James. Tell me what it is," she pleaded as she tried to get me to talk. Why won't she leave me alone? I thought as I subconsciously started growling. I was incredibly ticked off.

"Nothing's wrong," I replied again, a bit louder and more angry this time. Please, just leave me alone. I ended up hitting the toaster in a desperate attempt to make it pop out my toast so I can leave.

I probably shouldn't have shown my fury so obviously because my mother ended up leaving her breakfast and chair and started to approach me. Come on, I thought as I continued to stare at the toaster, I want my damn food! My mother stopped about a metre away from me and pleaded for me to, "please tell me what's wrong. I'm your mother. I can help."

"You can't help."

"Please, at least let me try," she begged as she placed one hand on my shoulder. For some reason, that's what sent me over the line and into a blinding frenzy of rage.

"I SAID THERE'S NOTHING WRONG!!!" I roared which sent my mother a few steps back in fear. I didn't care about her though, I was just so pissed off. I ended up just standing there staring into her eyes. I saw that they were filled completely with worry and uneasiness. I felt different when she feared me, more... powerful. I started to growl louder and I thought that she would take it as a sign to retreat. I was wrong.

"Wh... what's wrong, James?" She asked nervously.

"I said," I started while taking a single step towards her, letting the anger build up inside me. "...there's nothing WRONG!" And with that I lunged at her with my claws and cut her across the face. She collapsed to the floor with her hands on her face as she tried to stop the bleeding. Her cries in pain only served to intensify my primal state. There was only one thing going through my mind: I wanted to destroy.

I roared and let the anger take over me even more. That's when it happened. A searing pain shot through my body and paralysed me, causing me to collapsed onto my knees. I felt my muscles go on fire and felt them get bigger and more stronger. My skin burned as the patch of scales exploded over my body, completely replacing my human skin. That's when I figured out what was happening. This was the final stage of becoming a dragon.

Every part of my body grew larger, my arms, legs and tail. I felt something pushing out of my face and saw that it was turning into a long, reptilian snout. My hair began falling out in clumps and I felt blood fill my mouth as my human teeth was replaced by sharp fangs designed for tearing into flesh. My neck stretched to a couple of feet in length and my nostrils flared as the changes continued. I was now about ten feet in length and my mind began to lose itself to my ever increasingly dominant draconic instincts.

When the changes were finally done I found myself on four legs and I was breathing heavily. All the pain I endured finally left my body with an ear splitting roar which I think deafened my mother who was still kneeling in front of me in awe and fear, still bleeding from the cuts on her face. I looked at her and she looked back.

Calmness swept over me quickly and my human mind returned to me. My mother looked as though she was in a lot of pain. Guilt struck me like an arrow. I had caused this. The kitchen was left in shambles with cutlery, water from burst pipes and broken plates littering the floor. I looked back at my mother and saw that she was crying. I only wanted to say one thing to her at this point. "I'm sorry," I said, tears beginning to swell up in my own eyes. It must have taken a lot of energy to push my body through the last stage of the transformation because I quickly collapsed onto the wet floor, blacking out. I could hear my mother's sniffles before I completely lost consciousness, followed by the sound of the toaster popping. God dammit.
This is by far my favourite chapter. If you've read it by now then you know exactly why ^.=.^

Oh, and a fair warning to anyone reading this: bad things happen.

Also, I only need to write another 4000 words to beat NaNoWriMo in three days. I think I can do it but I'm NEVER doing this again. So... many... words... 0.=.o
